Robbins Hunter Museum to Honor Carol Apacki and Connie Hawk with the 2024 Victoria Woodhull Women of Achievement AwardThe Robbins Hunter Museum is proud to announce the recipients of the prestigious 2024 Victoria Woodhull Women of Achievement Award: Carol Apacki and Connie Hawk. This award recognizes their exceptional contributions to Licking County, reflecting the spirit of Victoria Woodhull, a pioneering advocate for women's rights and leadership.
Carol Apacki has shown unwavering commitment to education and community service throughout her life. Her notable accomplishments include revitalizing the League of Women Voters of Licking County, co-founding the Friends of the Shelter to support domestic violence survivors at the Center for New Beginnings in Newark, and spearheading environmental initiatives to protect Licking County's natural resources.
Connie Hawk, former President of the Licking County Foundation who is currently serving as the Foundation’s Strategic Initiatives Director, has significantly impacted the region's philanthropic landscape. Her contributions are equally impressive; under her tenure the Licking County Foundation grew from 88 funds to 324, spearheaded the major restoration efforts for the Louis Sullivan Building (which she still leads), established the Youth Philanthropy Licking County and Licking County Learns Together programs, formalized the Foundation’s approach to diversity, equity and inclusion, and led the transformation to trust-based philanthropy. Connie also was a founding member of the Women in Nonprofit Leadership group to support female nonprofit leaders.
Robbins Hunter Museum Executive Director Joleen Minton expressed her admiration for the award recipients. "Carol Apacki and Connie Hawk exemplify the spirit of Victoria Woodhull through their tireless efforts to improve others' lives and lead their community. Their achievements are truly commendable and worthy of this esteemed recognition."
The Victoria Woodhull Women of Achievement Award celebrates the enduring impact of women who, like its namesake, have shown courage, determination, and a commitment to progress. By joining this distinguished group of honorees, Apacki and Hawk have further solidified their roles in making Licking County a better place for all its citizens.
The Victoria Woodhull Women of Achievement Celebration is October 20, 2024, at 3 pm at the Robbins Hunter Museum. Guests are asked to RSVP by email to museum@robbinshunter.org or by calling (740) 587-0430.The museum houses one of the world's only Victoria Woodhull memorials, which celebrates Woodhull's legacy.
